*kelly was born in fort worth texas, but moved to burleson texas, and lives in mansfield texas now...i think...and L.A.
*Kelly has 4 tatoos, one a Japanese symbol on the back of her neck (which means blessed), a cross on her right wrist, and one on her hip the shape of texas, for her to always remember where she came from! and her new one, a sunflower on her ankle

On April 24th, 1982, in Fort Worth texas, kelly clarkson was born to mom jeanne clarkson, and father, steve clarkson. kelly has one older brother, jason, and one older sister, alyssa. they soon moved to the town where kelly grew up in, burleson texas. kelly was only 6 when her parents split up, she says she still remembers that day, and that her parents decided to divorce, over the phone. kelly's mom re-married to jim taylor, her sister went to live with her aunt, and her brother was living with her dad.
when kelly was in junoir high, she was overheard singing by her choir director, and was encouraged by her to come and sing in the choir. kelly had to learn quickly, because the rest of the choir had been singing since grade 4.
through highschool kelly performed in small musicals and productions. also in highschool, kelly wrote the song "because of you" about her parents divorce, at age 16.
after graduating in year 2000, kelly had no desire what so ever to go to college. she was determined in persuing her career in singing. kelly had many jobs, while finding time to make a demo tape and sending it out to many places without hearing back. kelly soon packed up and moved to L.A. with a friend, hoping to find her career there.
while in california, kelly had her car towed twice. she also had her apartment burn down the hour she moved into it. she went out to get some food and came back to a burnt apartment. so she decided to move back home to figure out what she was going to do.
she soon heard about an audition for a new show, "american idol," from her best friend jessica. jessica had filled out all the paper work for her, and kelly went to the audition in dallas texas
kelly obviously made it past the first round and was on her way back to hollywood! once she had made it to the top 30, she sang aretha franklin's "respect" on national television and made it into the top 10. the final two was between kelly and justin guarini. on september 4th, 2002, kelly clarkson became THE (1st) american idol, recieving a million dollar contract!
one month later, kelly's 1st single, "a moment like this" had gone from number 52 to number 1 on the billboard charts, breaking a record set by the beatles in 1964.
now, kelly is touring with her band, and making millions of dollars! her CD is now over 10x platinum! ROCK ON KELLY CLARKSON!
